Know Everything About CUET – UG
What is CUET – UG? This might be a question that you are wondering about. No doubt, that a new kind of all-India examination will raise a lot of queries. To answer in gist, The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is introduced by the Ministry of Education, (MoE). This exam will give everyone an equal opportunity across the country to get admission to top-tier central universities in India.
Thus, CUET is an all-India entrance examination which will enable you to get admission to various central universities. Of course, there is a lot more to know about CUET. In this blog, we will tell you everything that there is to know about CUET.
What is CUET – UG?
The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is an All-India test administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA) This exam is for students seeking admission to various programs at Central Universities. It also includes other participating universities (including State Universities, Deemed and Private Universities) all over the Country. The entrance exam is introduced by the Ministry of Education, (MoE) for the 2023-2024 academic sessions.
CUET will be conducted in 13 languages which are,
- English
- Hindi
- Assamese
- Bengali
- Gujarati
- Kannada
- Malayalam
- Marathi
- Odia
- Punjabi
- Tamil
- Telugu
- Urdu
Eligibility for CUET – UG
The candidates must be XII passed or should be needed to appear in the XII board examination in that academic year. On the other, NTA has not set any age limit for the all-India exam but the participating university might have. So, do check the age criteria of the university you desire to take admitted to before applying for CUET.
Pattern, Marking Scheme, Timing, Duration and Mode of CUET Exam
The mode of the CUET exam is online MCQ, CBT (Computer Based Test) based. The pattern of the examination will be as follows:
| Section IA & IB (Language Specific): Section IA (13 languages) & Section IB (20 languages), the candidate can choose a max of 3 languages in total from both. 40 out of 50 questions are to be attempted in 45 minutes in each language. |
| Section II (Domain Specific): 35 or 40 out of 45 or 50 questions to be answered for each subject in 45 minutes for each domain-specific subject out of 27, a candidate may choose a max of 6 domains. |
| Section III (General Test) GK & Mental Ability: 60 out of 75 questions to be attempted in 60 minutes. |
Note: A maximum of 10 subjects can be selected from every three sections. The section of subjects will vary according to each University’s requirement for the particular Programme.
Marking Scheme:
- 5 marks for each correct answer.
- -1 for every incorrect answer.
- No deduction for not attempting questions.
Duration:
The duration of the exam will be conducted for multiple days in three shifts. This schedule will depend on the number of candidates and subject choices. The three shift exams will also be independent and distinct from each other. Candidates will be assigned to the Shift depending on their options as well as technical and administrative reasons.
Fee Structure of CUET – UG Exam:
Application Form, Admit Card, and Examination Date of CUET – UG
The process of Online Application Form submission started back on February 9th and continued till 12 March 2023. The correction window was between 15 March to 18 March 2023. The announcement of the cities for examination will be on 30th April 2023. CUET Admit card will be available from the NTA website during the second week of May. The date of CUET examination will be on 21 May 2023 to 31 May 2023 (Reserve dates: 01 to 07 June 2023). The date for the Answer Key and Result will be declared on the NTA website.
