ICSE 2024 Mathematics: Tips to Score Full Marks

    G.S.T. :

    • GS.T. is to be imposed at a discounted price only.

    Banking :

    • Substitute the correct value in the correct formula.

    Linear Inequation :

    • The proper solution set to be written.
    • Arrowhead on both sides of the number line with at least one extra marking should be plotted beyond the solution set on both sides.

    Quadratic Equation :

    • Special care is to be taken to find roots in desired decimal places or significant figures.
    • Round-off should be done at the last step.

    Factorisation :

    • Factors should be written in product form, do not separate the factors by commas.
    • Factorise the expressions completely.

    Ratio and Proportion :

    • In case of proving, do not simplify L.H.S. and R.H.S. at the same time.
    • Use properties of proportion only.
    • Mention the properties of proportion during proving.

    Matrices :

    • The proper order of the matrix should be mentioned in the case of matrix multiplication.
    • The answer should be given in matrix form, wherever required.

    A.P. :

    • Apply proper formula with correct substitution
    • Special attention is to be given to finding the nth term and sum of n terms in an A.P.

    Reflection

    • Mention the correct name of the figure obtained and the area of the figure. (Remember the formulas for finding area), leam for single transformation.

    Section formula

    • It should be taken care of to find the ratio m : n, the coordinate of a point when reflected about a line in a given ratio.

    Equation of a straight Line

    • All three forms to find the equation of a line. Condition of parallelism and perpendicularity.

    Similarity:

    • Proving the similarity of triangles is mandatory.
    • Mention the rule of similarity used.

    Circles

    • The theorem should be mentioned within the bracket corresponding to the step wherever required.

    Mensuration

    • Before substituting the values, the formula must be mentioned (A step mark is there for correct substitution).
    • 3-dimensional solids- When 2 solids are to be taken into account; the method of the equation should be followed.

    Trigonometrical Identities

    • Proving related sums should be started from L.H.S., transpose of side should be avoided.

    Heights and Distances

    • Diagrams are mandatory to draw as they carry marks (not necessarily with pencils).

    Measurement of central tendency

    • In finding the Mode from the Histogram, if the last rectangle is the tallest one, then draw one line joining the top left corner to the right bottom corner, i.e. consider one more class interval with zero frequency.

    Graphical Representation

    • The scale must be mentioned in the top right corner of the Graph.
    • Kink can be taken (if required) on the X-axis but never on the Y-axis
    • Class intervals must be continuous.
    • Ogive must touch the X-axis
    • If 0.5 or -0.5 are obtained to make the class interval continuous, take the starting point as 0 (origin) and write 0(0.5) or 0(-0.5).

    Probability

    • The number of favourable outcomes and possible outcomes must be mentioned before finding the probability and the answer of probability must be in the simplest form.
