    What is JEE Advanced 2024?

    The seven zonal Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) under the aegis of the Joint Admission Board (JAB) conduct JEE Advanced exams. If you pass JEE Main exam, then you will be eligible to sit for JEE Advanced.

    Through JEE Advanced, the IITs provide admission to undergraduate courses leading to Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Bachelor-Master’s Degrees in Engineering, Sciences or Architecture.

    Registration for prospective candidates

    The following documents are necessary for JEE Advanced 2024 registration. If you clear JEE Main 2024 you will need these:

    • If the date of birth is correct, a birth certificate or a Class X certificate ought to be provided.
    • Certificate for Class XII (or equivalent examination) for students who took the exam for the first time in 2023 or whose Board announced Class XII results (or equivalent examination) on or after October 25, 2022.
    • If a Class XII mark sheet (or an equivalent document) for the 2024 exam is available, it needs to be shared.
    • Identity evidence in the form of a Citizenship certificate/Foreign Passport/OCI/PIO Card.

    The Indian government recommends GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL candidates submit their certificates on or after April 1, 2024. For SC/ST candidates, they must submit a Caste (for SC) or tribe (for ST) certificate, following the latest guidelines from the Government of India.     Application process

    • Go to the NTA website and select the JEE Advanced Registration option.
    • Click on the “Apply Online” button.
    • Create a login ID and password (application number and password).
    • Provide your personal, academic, and contact details.
    • Upload scanned copies of your photo, signature, and other required documents.
    • Pay the registration fee.
    • Go through the application form one last time to avoid mistakes and submit it.

    Eligibility for JEE Advanced 2024

    1. You will need a rank among the top 2,50,000 just to get a chance to appear in the JEE Advanced exam. The percentage of selected candidates varies over categories. The following percentages are allocated to each group: 10% for GEN-EWS, 27% for OBC-NCL, 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST, and the rest 40.5% is open for all.
    2. You should have been born on or after October 1, 1999. SC, ST, and PwD candidates get 5 years of age relaxation. In that case, your birthday has to be on or after October 1, 1994.
    3. If you’ve been admitted to any of the IITs, you won’t be able to sit for the exam again, even if your admission was revoked for whatever reason. However, if you were allotted a seat but didn’t show up, you’ll be able to sit again.
    4. You can appear for JEE Advanced a maximum of two times in two consecutive years.
    5. If you want to appear for JEE Advanced Examination 2024, you need to have Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects in your XII examination. Only students who sat for the XII exam in 2022 or are scheduled to sit for it in 2024 are eligible to take the test.

    Extra seats for girls

    Female candidates enjoy the benefit of supernumerary seats. It is in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Education, Government of India and the decision of the IIT Council to improve the gender balance in undergraduate programs in the IITs. These supernumerary posts are only for the female candidates (Indian national and OCI/ PIO candidates) who have been declared qualified in JEE Advanced 2024 strictly on the basis of their performance in the JEE Advanced 2024. How many extra spots are available in each program depends on the IITs making sure they have at least 20% female students in their undergraduate programs.

    Language in JEE Advanced 2024

    There is no need to specify the language of the QUESTION paper at the time of registration for JEE Advanced 2024. You will get an option to select your language of choice (English or Hindi) as the default language to view the questions at the beginning of the CBT examination for JEE. You can view the questions on the screen in your default language (English or Hindi) as per your choice. Switching between English and Hindi as the language of choice for any question at any time throughout the examination is a privilege you’ll get to enjoy.

    A recording will take place of the answers of all candidates who have taken Paper 1 and Paper 2 during the examination. You will be free to download the answer key from the candidate portal. The concerned link will be available on the official website of JEE Advanced 2024 after the completion of the examination.

    JEE Advanced 2024 Admit Card

    Upon successful registration, you can download the admit card. It must have the following details – Name, Roll number for JEE Advanced 2024, photograph, signature, date of birth, address for correspondence, category, name and address of the examination centre allocated to you.

    If there is any issue with the download of Admit Card then get in touch with the Chairperson of JEE of your nearest zonal coordinating IIT. Check the contents of it with extra care.

    Carry a printout of the admit card along with a valid photo ID card (Aadhaar Card, School/College/Institute ID, Driving License, Voter ID, Passport, PAN Card, Notarized Certificate with photograph) on the date of the examination. Otherwise, you won’t be able to sit for the exam.

    Question Paper

    There are two papers namely Paper 1 and Paper 2. Each paper is of 3 hours in duration. You must appear for both papers in order to qualify.

    Both papers consist of three separate sections – Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The questions are going to test your comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability.

    Some questions carry negative marks in case you give an incorrect response. You will get to know the marking scheme during your exam. Check the ‘Instructions to Candidates’ section to learn about it.

    Mode

    JEE Advanced will be conducted by Computer Based Test (CBT). It is ideal to sit for mock tests before you appear for JEE Advanced 2024.

    You will get a personal computer terminal (node). Look for your photograph on the system chosen for you. In order to log in you must provide the JEE Advanced 2024 roll number as login-id and enter the date of birth (in dd/mm/yyyy format) as the password

    You have to answer the questions by clicking on the given options

    Several representatives will be present in the examination hall to guide you. They will act as your guides if you face any difficulties.

    You must answer the questions within a specific time. Once the countdown timer ends, so will the exam.

    Exam hall Rules

    • Proper verification of your identity is compulsory. Do not forget to carry your Admit card and a photo identity card.
    • You cannot carry any kind of electronic device or accessories inside the examination hall.
    • For drinking water, carry a transparent plastic bottle.
    • It is compulsory to appear for both the available papers.

    JEE Advanced 2024 Answer Key

    Candidates who have completed both Paper 1 and Paper 2 of the examination will be able to view, download, and print their responses on the JEE 2024 Advanced candidate portal.

    Remember, the provisional answer key is tentative. You can put in your feedback. Post that, the final answer key will be out after making the required changes (if necessary).

    JEE Advanced 2024 Result

    The tentative date for the release of results is June 18, 2024. Category-wise All India Ranks (AIR) of successful candidates will be available through the JEE Advanced 2024 online portal after the results are declared. You will also receive a message on your registered mobile number.

    Individual rank cards are not the norm.

    Qualifying in the exam does not guarantee a seat in IITs. Admission is subject to merit and availability of seats.

    Once you qualify, it is necessary to register with Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2024 to fill in the choices of courses according to your order of preference. Unless you do so by the given deadline, it won’t be possible to get admission into any programme in the IITs.

      • JEE Advanced is typically more difficult than JEE Main. The test requires a deeper understanding of the subjects rather than relying exclusively on rapid problem-solving.
