ICSE 2024 Physics: Tips to Score Full Marks

Definitions, principles, and laws are to be learnt as given in the textbook.
The keywords for any answer are to be written appropriately.
Answers to questions, asking for dissimilarity are to be written in tabular form.
Any numerical should have the following steps:-
1. Proper, relevant equation.
2. Substitution
3. Calculations.
4. Final answer with a proper unit (wherever applicable). If the answer comes in fraction, it must be expressed in an equivalent decimal. In numerical, if the question asks to compare, then the answer must be represented in the form of a ratio.
Graphs should have axes labelled, and proper variables with units written along both axes.
For determining equivalent resistance, either step-wise reduced diagrams are drawn to get the answer or step-wise calculation must be written starting from the chosen formula.
Ray diagrams must be equipped with arrow-heads

ICSE 2024 Chemistry: Tips to Score Full Marks

Inorganic

If the compounds/elements are denoted by x, y, z etc in the question, students must not predict/write the names of the compounds/elements.
The definition must be written in a single sentence with proper keywords.
Differences must be written in columns.

Organic

If a compound has to be named, avoid writing the formula.
For organic compounds, state the IUPAC name only.
For organic reactions, write down the conditions also. (temperature, pressure, catalyst, etc)
For drawing the structural formulae of organic compounds all bonds between atoms and functional groups should be shown clearly.
For Periodic Properties
Definition to be learnt with keywords. Reasons for periodic trends across the period / down the group to be learnt.
For Chemical Bonding
Practice electron dot diagrams using the correct count of valence electrons, transfer, sharing etc.
For chapters HCI, NH₃, HNO3 and H₂SO₄, acid, bases, salts etc.
Practice balancing equations using a pen only. Avoid overbalancing of equations.
For electrolysis:
Practive all the cases of electrolysis taking reference to electrolyte used, electrode reactions etc.
Metallurgy:
Aluminium extraction in detail regarding Baeyer’s Process & Hall Heroult’s Process.
