Our students are ranging from Rank 2 to 46 across all Pathfinder centres! The Vidyasagar Science Olympiad examination was held on 23rd July 2023 for Layer 2. Before looking at our rankers lets us see what is VSO exam that we are talking about.

VSO 2023 Result Layer 2: What is Vidyasagar Science Olympiad?

VSO (Vidyasagar Science Olympiad) Scheme is a joint initiative by the School Education Department, Government of West Bengal, and JBNSTS. The VSO is conducted by Jagadis Bose National Science Talent Search in West Bengal to identify hidden talents. VSO exam focuses on science subjects such as Physical Science (Physics and Chemistry of the materials), Life Science (Biology of living beings) or Mathematical science. Particularly, the examination’s prime objective is to nurture students of class IX to perform brilliantly in national and international Olympiads.

VSO 2023 Result Layer 2: Core Objectives

One of the core objectives of VSO is the tri-layered examination design which examines students at a pre-Madhyamik level. Particularly, this is for better identification and early support and rearing of excellent students. Moreover, to inspire young students, science workshops and seminars and give them a chance to meet with renowned scientists and technologists are organised.

VSO 2023 Exam Layer 2 Selection Criteria:

Top 20% of students (provided they have scored 40% of total marks in the Layer 2 examination) from each district are eligible for the third layer.

Intra-State competition:

A test will be conducted among the top 20% of qualified students (provided they have scored 40% of total marks) from the second level of all districts of our state. Finally, the top 100 students from West Bengal will be selected as scholarship awardees.

VSO (Vidyasagar Science Olympiad) Examination and Answer Key 2023

JBNTS conducted VSO 2023 examination for layer 1 on 7th May 2023 (SUNDAY) during 12.00 noon – 3.00 p.m. Right after that, Pathfinder was the first institute to publish the Answer Key of the VSO 2023 Exam which you can check here.

VSO 2023 Layer 2 Examination Pattern:

Eligibility criteria: Top 20% of students (provided they have scored 40% of total marks in Layer 2 examination) from each district qualifying second level.

Subjects: Physical Science, Life Science and Mathematical Science.

Question type: Short answer type (no negative marking).

Full Marks: 60 (Physical Science 20, Life Science 20 and Mathematical Science 20) .

Language of question: Bengali and English.

Tentative date and time: To be announced later.

Examination centres: To be announced later.

The Outcome of the Layer 3 Examination for the Candidates:

Finally, the top hundred (100) students from all over West Bengal will be selected as scholarship awardees. They will be awarded a scholarship of Rs. 1000/- per month during Class IX and X and an annual book grant of Rs. 2500/- for two years and a certificate.
Each of the selected students (100) will get the opportunity to participate in science workshops and there will be training sessions for individual subject-wise National Olympiad Examination.
